The Bench Code of Conduct

The Bench is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or any other protected characteristic. All participants, including delegates, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and volunteers, are expected to adhere to the following Code of Conduct:

1. Be Respectful

  • Treat all participants, including staff, volunteers, and fellow delegates, with respect and courtesy.
  • Respect differing viewpoints and engage in discussions with open-mindedness and professionalism.
  • Do not use offensive, demeaning, or discriminatory language.
  • Be mindful of local laws and regulations.

2. Harassment-Free Environment

  • Harassment in any form, including sexual harassment, bullying, or discriminatory conduct, will not be tolerated.
  • Unwelcome attention, unwarranted physical contact, or sexual advances are unacceptable.
  • Report any harassment, intimidation, or discriminatory behaviour immediately to conference organisers.

3. Respect Privacy

  • Do not take photographs or record participants without their consent.
  • Respect the privacy and personal space of others.

4. Inclusivity

  • Be mindful of inclusivity and diversity when engaging in conversations.
  • Make efforts to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate fully in discussions and activities.

5. Digital Etiquette

  • Use appropriate and respectful language in all communications, including online chat functions and social media.
  • Respect other delegates’ contributions and be mindful of sharing and consuming digital content during and after the conference.

6. Consequences of Violations

  • Violations of the Code of Conduct may result in warnings, exclusion from specific sessions, or expulsion from the conference without a refund, depending on the severity of the violation.
  • In severe cases, the individual may also be reported to local authorities if appropriate.

7. Reporting Incidents

  • If you experience or witness any inappropriate behaviour, please report it immediately to a member of the conference organising team.
  • All reports will be handled confidentially and investigated promptly.
