Hilton Solidifies Commitment to Growth in Greece and Cyprus with Appointment of New Development Director

Published: 26 September 2022

ATHENS – 23 September 2022 - Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has today announced the appointment of Andreas Koukas as Director of Development for Greece and Cyprus, in advance of Hilton’s attendance at the IDEEA Hospitality Investment Forum next week. Starting this month, Andreas will continue to drive forward Hilton’s impressive growth in the region, leading the strategic deployment of Hilton’s brands.

Originally from Greece, Andreas began his career with Hilton more than 15 years ago, working in Revenue Management, Marketing and E-Commerce before taking on this latest position. During these years Andreas has built strong relationships with many senior operations and commercial stakeholders. As part of his new role, Andreas will relocate to Athens, where he will drive Hilton’s strategic growth in the region.

This appointment follows a string of successful openings and signings in the region, including the recently opened Sea Breeze Santorini Beach Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton and The Royal Senses Resort & Spa Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton. Along with these openings, recent signings include the first Hampton by Hilton and Conrad Hotels & Resorts in Greece. Hilton currently has three trading properties in Greece and Cyprus, with three currently under development in Athens.

Alan Mantin, managing director, development, Southern Europe, Hilton, said, “Andreas’ appointment comes at a crucial time in Hilton’s growth, as we look to significantly develop our portfolio in Greece and Cyprus. With three hotels planned in Athens and a wealth of new opportunities to explore in Mediterranean island destinations, this appointment solidifies our commitment to expansion in the region. Andreas’ knowledge of the market and experience with Hilton make him an ideal candidate to lead the charge for Hilton’s Greek and Cypriot development plans.”

Andreas Koukas, director, development, Greece and Cyprus, Hilton, said, “As tourism in Greece and Cyprus continues to grow, I look forward to driving Hilton’s development in the region. With a legacy spanning more than six decades, there are a number of opportunities to build on Hilton’s strong reputation by strategically introducing Hilton’s brands to the market. Leading Hilton’s growth in my home country is a particularly special responsibility and I am excited to work with owners and developers to introduce fantastic hotels across the region.”
